Details for Bovine Collagen Type 1
Specificity: Collagen Type I, Bovine
Type of Product: Purified Collagens
Inactivation: Not applicable.
Buffer: 500mM Acetic acid
Applications Notes : Type I collagen standard. Antigen for antibody production. Coating material for cell culture studies. Formation of collagen gels.. To ensure lot-to-lot consistency, each lot of purified collagen is tested for conformance with characteristics of a standard reference reagent using SDS-PAGE analysis. Concentration: Concentration is lot specific Bovine Collagen Type I
Function: Type I collagen is a member of group I collagen (fibrillar forming collagen).
Subunit: Trimers of one alpha 2(I) and two alpha 1(I) chains.
Subcellular Location: Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix (By similarity).
Tissue Specificity: Forms the fibrils of tendon, ligaments and bones. In bones the fibrils are mineralized with calcium hydroxyapatite.
Ptm: Proline residues at the third position of the tripeptide repeating unit (G-X-Y) are hydroxylated in some or all of the chains. Pro-1163 is the only 3-hydroxyproline and the only hydroxylated proline in position X.
Ptm: O-linked glycan consists of a Glc-Gal disaccharide bound to the oxygen atom of a post-translationally added hydroxyl group.
Similarity: Belongs to the fibrillar collagen family.
Similarity: Contains 1 VWFC domain.
