Cross reacts with breast carcinomas, kidney tubules, tonsil crypt epithelium and cells in some serious effusions. Useful in characterisation of all epithelial cells.
Function: GA733 tumor-associated antigen gene family may function as growth factor receptors.
Subunit: Monomer.
Subcellular Location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity: This protein is expressed in almost all epithelial cell membranes but not on mesodermal or neural cell membranes. Found on the surface of adenocarcinomas.
Similarity: Contains 1 thyroglobulin type-1 domain.
EpCAM [AUA1] reacts with human - not yet tested in other species.
