Immunogen:
Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Thr305 found in rat brain CaM Kinase II. The sequence of the immunogen is identical in bovine, chicken, human, mouse, rat and Xenopus.
Antibody Specificity:
Specific for the ~50k a-CaM Kinase II and the ~60k ß-CaM Kinase II phosphorylated at Thr305 in Western blots of rat brain lysates. Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.
Source/Host:
Rabbit
Clonality:
Serum
Crossreactivity:
Cow, chicken, human, mouse, rat, xenopus
Storage:
4 degree C for short term (weeks) and -20 degree C for long term. Avoid frequent freeze and thaw.
Stability:
6-12 months at -20 degree C.
Shipping:
Products may be shipped on ice pack or dry ice.
APPLICATIONS for CAMK2A ANTIBODY:
WB: Tested
ELISA, ICC, IHC: Not Tested
TESTING: (

)
Western Blot:
Western Blot of 10 mg of rat brain lysate showing specific immunolabeling of a- and b-CaM Kinase II phosphorylated at Thr305. The labeling by the antibody to CaM Kinase II Thr305 is specifically blocked by the Thr305 phosphopeptide used as antigen. The corresponding dephosphopeptide did not block the immunolabeling (not shown). ( anti-Camk2a )

CAMK2A ANTIBODY TARGET DESCRIPTION:
Synonym Names for Camk2a antibody:
Camk2a; PKCCD; PK2CDD; EC 2.7.11.17; CaM-kinase II alpha chain; CaM kinase II alpha subunit; CaMK-II subunit alpha; Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha subunit [Rattus norvegicus]
Function:
CaM-kinase II (CAMK2) is a prominent kinase in the central nervous system that may function in long-term potentiation and neurotransmitter release. Member of the NMDAR signaling complex in excitatory synapses it may regulate NMDAR-dependent potentiation of the AMPAR and synaptic plasticity.
Catalytic Activity:
ATP + a protein = ADP + a phosphoprotein.
Enzyme Regulation:
Autophosphorylation of Thr-286 allows the kinase to switch from a calmodulin-dependent to a calmodulin-independent state.
Subunit:
CAMK2 is composed of four different chains: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. The different isoforms assemble into homo- or heteromultimeric holoenzymes composed of 8 to 12 subunits. Binds SYN1. Interacts with SYNGAP1 and MPDZ.
Similarity:
Belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. CaMK subfamily.
Similarity:
Contains 1 protein kinase domain.
Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II alpha chain reacts with cow, chicken, human, mouse, rat, xenopus.
