Synonym Names for LTF antibody: LTF; LF; MAb to Lactoferrin; Lactoferrin; EC 3.4.21.-; Talalactoferrin; Lactotransferrin
MAb to Lactoferrin. Monoclonal Antibody to Human Lactoferrin
Function: Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe(3+) ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate.
Function: Lactotransferrin has antimicrobial activity which depends on the extracellular cation concentration.
Function: Lactoferroxins A, B and C have opioid antagonist activity. Lactoferroxin A shows preference for mu-receptors, while lactoferroxin B and C have somewhat higher degrees of preference for kappa-receptors than for mu-receptors.
Function: The lactotransferrin peptidase S60 domain 1 functions as a serine protease that cuts arginine rich regions. This function contributes to the antimicrobial activity.
Catalytic Activity: Preferential at -Arg-Ser-Arg-Arg-|- and -Arg-Arg-Ser-Arg-|-, and of Z-Phe-Arg-|-aminomethylcoumarin.
Subunit: Monomer.
Subcellular Location: Secreted.
Miscellaneous: The second peptidase S60 domain does not have protease function as the catalytic residues are missing.
Similarity: Belongs to the transferrin family.
Similarity: Contains 2 peptidase S60 domains [view classification].
OMIM: 150210; gene. [NCBI / EBI] 245480; phenotype. [NCBI / EBI]
