Specificity: Specific for phosphorylated human GSK3B p59 with minimal crossreactivity against non-phosphorylated GSK3B. Shows a strong signal to GSK3b in Western blot at the estimated molecular weight of 49kD. This antibody may show very weak reactivity against GSK3a.

Applications Notes : Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoprecipitation and Western blot. Serum starved 293T whole cell lysate is suitable for use as a positive control. Assayed by ELISA against 0.1ug of the immunizing peptide. A dilution range of 1:10,000 to 1:50,000 is recommended for ELISA and 1:1,000 is recommended for Western blot. Each laboratory should determine an optimum working titer for use in its particular application. Other applications have not been tested but use in such assays should not necessarily be excluded.

Warning: This product contains sodium azide, which has been classified as Xn (Harmful), in European Directive 67/548/EEC in the concentration range of 0.1–1.0%. When disposing of this reagent through lead or copper plumbing, flush with copious volumes of water to prevent azide build-up in drains.

Rabbit anti GSK3b pS9. Rabbit Antibody to Human Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 beta (GSK3b) phosphorylated at Serine 9

Function: Participates in the Wnt signaling pathway. Implicated in the hormonal control of several regulatory proteins including glycogen synthase, MYB and the transcription factor JUN. Phosphorylates JUN at sites proximal to its DNA-binding domain, thereby reducing its affinity for DNA. Phosphorylates MUC1 in breast cancer cells, and decreases the interaction of MUC1 with CTNNB1/beta-catenin.

Catalytic Activity: ATP + [tau protein] = ADP + [tau protein] phosphate.

Enzyme Regulation: Inhibited when phosphorylated by AKT1.

Subunit: Monomer (By similarity). Interacts with CABYR, MUC1, NIN and PRUNE.

Tissue Specificity: Expressed in testis, thymus, prostate and ovary and weakly expressed in lung, brain and kidney.

Ptm: Phosphorylated by AKT1 and ILK1.

Similarity: Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family. GSK-3 subfamily.
