FABP5 PROTEIN TARGET DESCRIPTION:
Synonym Names for FABP5 protein:
FABP5; Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Epidermal; FABP-5; EFABP; Fatty Acid Binding Protein Psoriasis-Associated; PAFABP.; E-FABP; Fatty acid-binding protein 5; Psoriasis-associated fatty acid-binding protein homolog; PA-FABP; Fatty acid-binding protein, epidermal
Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins (14-15kDa) that bind long chain fatty acids, their CoA derivatives, billiruben, organic anions and other small hydrophobic molecules. E-FABP (or FABP-5) is thought work in conjunction with A-FABP to facilitate fatty acid efflux from adipocytes. E-FABP may also be involved in keratinocyte differentiation.
RANDOX recombinant E-FABP comprises a 135 amino acid fragment (1-135) corresponding to the human epidermal FABP protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
Function:
High specificity for fatty acids. Highest affinity for C18 chain length. Decreasing the chain length or introducing double bonds reduces the affinity. May be involved in keratinocyte differentiation.
Subcellular Location:
Cytoplasm.
Tissue Specificity:
Keratinocytes; highly expressed in psoriatic skin.
Domain:
Forms a beta-barrel structure that accommodates the hydrophobic ligand in its interior.
Similarity:
Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family.
OMIM:
605168; gene. [

GenWay is a Protein and Antibody Solutions Provider. Customer Satisfaction is Our Top Priority.
GenWay has a diverse line of recombinant protein expression platforms, including E. coli expression, Bacliovirus expression, yeast expression, and mammalian expression. Combining the technologies of bioinformatics, protein domain analysis, gene codon optimization, protein fusion, and protein expression in different host cells, GenWay can produce soluble and functional proteins. In particular, GenWay has the capability and vector systems for expression of difficult proteins such as proteases, kinases, glycosylated and membrane proteins. We have a very high success rate (almost 100%) and can deliver the proteins in a timely fashion. This is a core competency necessary for efficient and effective production of immunogens and affinity ligands for antibody production and purification. GenWay has over 300
recombinant proteins
offered in our catalog.
