Immunogen: Synthetic partial peptide of human XRCC3.
Specificity Note: This product recognises human X-ray repair cross-complementing protein 3 (XRCC3), a 37.9 kDa nuclear DNA repair protein belonging to the RecA/Rad51 related protein family.
The XRCC3 protein functions in homologous recombination to maintain chromosome stability and facilitate DNA damage repair. XRCC3 is also required for correct chromosomal segregation and for the repair of DNA cross links.
Studies indicate that XRCC3 is involved at an early stage in the repair process. XRCC3 interacts with RAD51C to form a complex which is recruited to the site of DNA damage. Defects in vertebrate XRCC3 result in elevated levels of spontaneous DNA damage induced chromosomal abnormalities and increased sensitivity to DNA damaging agents.
