ZBP1 encodes a Z-DNA binding protein. Z-DNA formation is a dynamic process. largely controlled by the amount of supercoiling.
Function: May play a role in host defense against tumors and pathogens. Binds Z-DNA (By similarity).
Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in lymphatic tissues including lymph node, leukocytes, tonsil, bone marrow and spleen. Expressed to a lesser extent in thymus, lung and liver.
Similarity: Contains 2 DRADA repeats.
Summary: DLM1 encodes a Z-DNA binding protein. Z-DNA formation is a dynamic process, largely controlled by the amount of supercoiling.[supplied by OMIM].
