HS1 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 245 amino acids (1-245) and having a molecular mass of 27 kDa.
14-3-3-tau is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

The 14-3-3 family of proteins plays a key regulatory role in signal transduction, checkpoint control, apoptotic and nutrient-sensing pathways. 14-3-3 proteins are highly conserved and ubiquitously expressed. There are at least seven isoforms, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? and ? that have been identified in mammals. The 14-3-3 tau, a subtype of the 14-3-3 family of proteins, was found in T Cells, brain and testes. This 14-3-3 tau is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Function: Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathway. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner.

Subunit: Interacts with PCTK1 (By similarity). Homodimer, and heterodimer with YWHAB, YWHAG and YWHAE. Interacts with SSH1.

Subcellular Location: Cytoplasm. Note=In neurons, axonally transported to the nerve terminals.

Tissue Specificity: Abundantly expressed in brain, heart and pancreas, and at lower levels in kidney and placenta. Up-regulated in the lumbar spinal cord from patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) compared with controls, with highest levels of expression in individuals with predominant lower motor neuron involvement.
