 KHK PROTEIN TARGET DESCRIPTION:
Synonym Names for KHK protein: KHK; EC 2.7.1.3; Hepatic fructokinase; Ketohexokinase isoform a

Catalytic Activity: ATP + D-fructose = ADP + D-fructose 1-phosphate.

Enzyme Regulation: Requires potassium. Inhibition by ADP.

Pathway: Primary metabolism of dietary fructose in mammals.

Subunit: Dimer of A-A, A-C or C-C (Probable).

Tissue Specificity: Most abundant in liver, kidney, gut, spleen and pancreas. Low levels also found in adrenal, muscle, brain and eye.

Disease: Defects in KHK are the cause of fructosuria [MIM:229800]. Fructosuria is a benign defect of intermediary metabolism.

Similarity: Belongs to the carbohydrate kinase pfkB family.

Summary: KHK encodes the gene ketohexokinase that catalyzes conversion of fructose to fructose-1-phosphate. The splice variant presented encodes the highly active form found in liver, renal cortex, and small intestine, while the alternate variant encodes the lower activity form found in most other tissues.

Ketohexokinase reacts with human.

OMIM: 229800; gene+phenotype. [NCBI / EBI]

Pathways:
KEGG pathway: Fructose and mannose metabolism 00051
Reactome Event:Metabolism of sugars 71387

GenWay is a Protein and Antibody Solutions Provider. Customer Satisfaction is Our Top Priority.

GenWay has a diverse line of recombinant protein expression platforms, including E. coli expression, Bacliovirus expression, yeast expression, and mammalian expression. Combining the technologies of bioinformatics, protein domain analysis, gene codon optimization, protein fusion, and protein expression in different host cells, GenWay can produce soluble and functional proteins. In particular, GenWay has the capability and vector systems for expression of difficult proteins such as proteases, kinases, glycosylated and membrane proteins. We have a very high success rate (almost 100%) and can deliver the proteins in a timely fashion. This is a core competency necessary for efficient and effective production of immunogens and affinity ligands for antibody production and purification. GenWay has over 300

recombinant proteins

offered in our catalog.
