Specificity: ALPHA SYNUCLEIN
NCBI Gene ID: 6622
Isotype: Specificity: ALPHA SYNUCLEIN
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 116-131 of the C-terminus of a synuclein
Specificity Note: This product recognises human alpha-synuclein.
The alpha-synuclein gene, located on chromosome 4, has been linked to early onset autosomal dominant Parkinson's disease.
The protein is abundant in the nervous system, and is known to be the precursor of the non-beta amyloid component protein (NACP) of Alzheimer's disease. Alpha-synuclein has also been found to be associated with other neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple system atrophy and dementia with Lewy's bodies.
Immunohistology: This product does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections. This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.
Histology: Brain, Spinal Cord.
Antiserum Preparation: Antisera to a-synuclein were raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen.
Preservative Stabilisers:
Suggested Dilution: Suggested Dilution: Immunohistology - Paraffin - 1/300 Immunohistology - Resin - 1/1000 vs immunising peptide
Source/Host: Goat
Clonality: Polyclonal
Crossreactivity: Human
Format: Serum
Storage: Store at +4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Stability: 18 months from date of despatch.
Shipping: Products may be shipped on ice pack or dry ice. |

Synonym Names for ALPHA SYNUCLEIN antibody: N/A; GOAT ANTI HUMAN ALPHA SYNUCLEIN; Alpha-synuclein isoform NACP140; N/A
Summary: Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, which also includes beta- and gamma-synuclein. Synucleins are abundantly expressed in the brain and alpha- and beta-synuclein inhibit phospholipase D2 selectively. SNCA may serve to integrate presynaptic signaling and membrane trafficking. Defects in SNCA have been implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson disease. SNCA peptides are a major component of amyloid plaques in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Two alternatively spliced transcripts of SNCA have been identified. Additional splicing may be present but the full-length nature of these variants has not been determined.
