Immunogen: Synthetic peptide CLRQQHDDFADDISLLK corresponding to the C-terminal amino sequence 458-501 of human BACE.

Specificity Note: This product recognises human beta-site APP-cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1), a 70kD aspartic protease. BACE1 is involved in the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) to generate amyloid beta peptide. Cerebral deposition of amyloid beta peptide is an early feature of Alzheimer's disease.

Immunohistology: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin embedded sections. Sodium buffer pH6.0 is recommended for this purpose.

Antiserum Preparation: Antisera to human BACE1 (C-terminal) were raised by repeated immunisations of goats with highly purified antigen.
